In English, we've been reading the story One Plastic Bag, which is based upon the real story of Isatou Ceesay and the recycling women of Gambia. At the start of the story, Isatou's palm leaf basket breaks, so we worked in groups to create our own basket that fulfilled 4 criteria; deep, strong, secure, and has a way to hold it. We held our own version of dragons den. We wrote persuasive speeches using features such as rhetorical questions and emotive language to persuade the dragons (our teachers) that our basket was the best.
