We're going on a Bug Hunt!

In Science we have been learning about habitats. Do you know what a habitat is?

First of all we thought about what wild animals live locally to us. We thought of foxes, hedgehogs, pigeons, magpies, rats and slugs.

Next we went outside to look at what different habitats we could find around school and thought about what animals might live in them.

After that we headed off on our Bug Hunt. We used pooters to suck up small creatures to take a closer look at. Look at what we found!

Later on we did a mini investigation to see which habitat the creatures we found liked the best. We put some dry black paper and some damp black paper into a tray and put our creatures in. We scrunched the paper so the creatures could get underneath. Which habitat do you think they preferred?

Finally we released all the creatures back to their natural habitats.

Pirate Breakfast and the Aaaaargh-lympics

Ahoy Mateys!

To celebrate our Pirates topic, last week Year 2 had their annual Pirate Breakfast! The children all came dressed as swashbuckling, sea-faring pirates.
We ate our healthy pirate breakfast - it's important for pirates to eat healthily so they don't get scurvy, a particularly nasty disease.
Then spent the rest of the day having lots of pirate fun and games!
HIT THE DECK!
Sick Turtle!
Three men in a boat!

We all had a great day and got to show how much we've all learnt about pirates! Well be back on dry land soon!
