Science Museum Trip

Braving the snow to experience Science!

On Monday 11th December, Year 3 were brave enough to face the snow and venture to the Science Museum in South Kensington, London.  After a wet and cold walk to Hainault station, we warmed up on the tube before arriving at the museum a little late.  We had an early lunch and then were off to explore the Statoil Wonderlab.  Take a look at our pictures!

Volcaannnnnooooooooooooooo!

In Year 3, we finally got to erupt the model volcano.  We put baking soda into the neck of the volcano and then added a mixture of vinegar, red food colouring and washing up liquid.  We were a bit disappointed because it didn't erupt as much as we anticipated! Take a look at the pictures of 3F erupting their volcano.

Bones, Bones, Bones!

HALLOWEEN FEVER HITS JB!

In Year 3 we started our new topic, Stone Age and Bones.  We had a delivery of bones frozen in ice that we had to try and break free.  We also looked at x-rays of bones and tried to put together a skeleton. It felt very apt to be starting these topics on Halloween... hopefully it didn't give anyone a fright!

3E and 3F are subtraction superstars!

This week we have been developing and honing our subtraction skills.  Working on whiteboards on Monday enabled the children to work quickly through lots of different calculations.

You could quiz us at home, we're so fast at mental calculations now!

Year 3 Enjoying Flotsam!

Our new book this term is Flotsam by Alan Weisner.  So far we have enjoyed asking questions about this unusual picture book and creating soundscapes.

Last week we used the props that we made for homework to act out our own versions of the story.
